The choice is the cloud, not the capture
Both tools do the same first thing: you press record, you click through the process, and a numbered guide with screenshots comes out the other end. The difference starts a second later. Scribe sends the screenshots to its servers, because everything it sells after the capture depends on them being there — a share link anyone can open, AI that rewrites the step text, and a report on who read the guide. Those are running services, and a running service is billed monthly, per seat.
Clickdoc has no server. The screenshots stay in the browser storage on your machine, the steps are written from what you actually clicked and typed, and you hand someone a file rather than a URL. There is nothing to host, so there is nothing to rent: one payment, no renewal, and no account to create before you can record.
If the workflow you are documenting touches customer records, an internal admin console, or anything you would rather not upload to a vendor, that difference is the whole decision. If you need the hosted link, Scribe is the better fit and this page will say so plainly.

Competitor prices and limits as published on 5 September 2026, from the vendor's own pricing page: scribe.com/pricing. That page states Pro Personal at $25 to $35 per seat, per month and Pro Team at $13 to $17 per seat, per month with a five-seat minimum. It publishes no cap on the free tier — it describes that tier by feature instead — so this page gives no figure for it rather than repeating an estimate. Prices change without warning; check the vendor before you buy. Feature rows describe each product as its own site presented it during the same 5 September 2026 research pass; only prices and limits are quoted from the snapshot, and a cell that says so records nothing else.
Stay with Scribe if
- You need a hosted share link. One URL that anyone can open in a browser, including people outside your company, with no file to send and no copy to keep up to date. Clickdoc has no server, so it cannot give you one.
- You want the step text written for you. Scribe drafts the wording with AI. Clickdoc writes each step from the click and the typed input, and the editing is yours to do.
- You need to know who read the guide. Scribe reports team analytics on its guides. Clickdoc reports nothing, because nothing is uploaded for it to count.
Those three are the reason the price recurs. If you use them, the seat fee is buying something real and none of the above is a criticism of it.
What Clickdoc does not do
- No desktop-app capture. Chrome tabs only, on any site.
- No AI-written step text. Steps come from the clicks and the typed input, and you edit the wording.
- No cloud sharing and no hosted links. There is no server, so there is no URL to send — you hand over a file.
- No team analytics. Nothing reports who opened a guide.
